The seats look VERY nice for a "junk" car. They alone might be worth the $500, depending on how much that is in US money.
Do you know if the owner has the rear wheel where the spare is?

How many left hand drive Fieros were made?  Or was this a custom job?

All vehicles imported into Australia must be converted to right hand drive.  They don't allow left hand drive vehicles.  Some other requirements can be seen in the parking light/turn signals.  They must be split with one half white and the other half yellow.  I was talking with Allen this morning and he said the parking lights are actually the same as in a truck.  Neither of us had ever seen a front zippered cover like that.  For Allen, that Getrag would be worth the money to bolt behind Julie's 3800.

But why, oh why, would a car be in such bad condition with slightly over 30,000 miles on it.  The engine would be of no use, the brake system would be toast and probably the underbelly would be rusted beyond use due to moisture buildup underneath.  Can't figure why the front end's up on the blocks, though.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

On closer inspection, it doesn't look like an 88. The crossover pipe is wrong, and the ground effects color is wrong (should be body color).

Look at the tops of the shock towers, in the engine pic. Definitely not an '88.
Since it has the engraved plenum (and in consideration of the shock towers) I'm guessing it's an '87.
With that said... there is probably easily $500 worth of parts, there.

FYI: guys
if a car is LHD and over 25 years old it can be left a left hand drive , but the Left hand drive stick on notice has be left on the rear to warn other drivers.
our two fieros have already been converted toRHD and it would be too costly to return it to LHD
