What are the symptoms, when the oil pressure sender goes bad?

Sometimes when it rains, I have no oil pressure in my silver Formula. The pressure comes back when it dries out. The vertically standing sender can get water in it's interior.

My oil pressure reads very high, randomly.
Yours still has pressure, but the gauge is showing incorrectly,

The sending unit should have a cover over it to help keep water out, but it's not totally effective. Filling the top of the sender with dielectric grease can help.
Spikes of high pressure can be symptoms of a bad ground. You can replicate this by having the ignition on with the harness plugged to the sender before it's installed. I think you can get the same result by unplugging the harness while the ignition is on.
