Newsletter article explanation
« on: January 19, 2021, 06:34:52 pm »
Regarding the newsletter, a few things have come to my attention, and I'd like to address them:
  • A major goal of the newsletter is to share information with others.  Many of us work on our Fiero(s).  Sometimes, this work may seem routine, but may not be routine for everyone.  In particular, beginners really struggle with fixing minor Fiero issues.  Shops often do more harm than good.  Our newsletters are geared toward those beginners, the people who buy a Fiero, have a minor issue, can't fix that issue, and get frustrated with their Fiero, ultimately leaving their Fiero to rot.  Our newsletters can help enhance owners' satisfaction in and enjoyment of their Fiero.
  • The goal is to have content in the newsletter that is worth reading.  Length has never been a goal.
  • Images are used to illustrate a point, to make the newsletter more visually appealing, or to share information--not to add length.  Most images have accompanying verbiage.  In most cases, the images and verbiage work together, and each would be less without the other.
  • Articles are actually very simple to write.  Most articles are just a documented version of work you did.  When you accomplish something, share it.  Newsletter articles are meant to be something of which you're so proud, you want to share it with others.  If you're like me, you may have to refer back to the article later, to see how you did it.
  • Each article starts with a simple idea.  Just like we did in school, additional things are added, more or less in outline form.  That outline is then expanded into paragraphs.
  • Generally, articles are meant to be timed to cover what you need, when you need it.  Some articles work together, often covering different aspects of the same topic, or related topics.  There are outlier topics, where it seemed that a topic was needed at a particular time.
  • Articles are different from posts.  Obviously, articles aren't interactive; rather, they are static.  All the needed information must be presented in one go, resulting in articles being written in a more formal format.  Due to the static nature of articles, the newsletter has more options with layout.
  • Our newsletter does not use click-bait, nor does it make promises of useful information, but hold that information hostage, nor is the newsletter ad-ridden, or any of the other annoying things that other media, such as youtube, likes to do.
  • Newsletter articles and message board topics/posts are not mutually exclusive.  I have used some of my topics as the basis for newsletter articles.  Generally, the message board has an abridged version.  The newsletter has the more polished work.
  • If you would like to see different content, likely, so would someone else.  The best way to get that content is to submit it.

Note that content needs to be your content, or include usage authorization from the author(s).  Rewriting something using your own words is fine, as long as it is unique and accurste.  Images need to be yours, or have usage authorization from the author(s).

Article submissions don't need paragraphs to be indented.  Single-spaced is fine.  There should be one blank line between paragraphs.
