It never fails...except when it does
« on: October 11, 2016, 10:40:54 pm »
My volts were reading around 10, no start, no click, no headlights.  After a jump, ran fine for hours.  Tested battery and alternator OK. Battery light worked in test.  Started fine the next few days.  Everything seemed tight.

Finally found that the bolt to the negative terminal was tight to the cable, but broken between the cable and the battery.  Removed and replaced bolts, all good.

I recently had a similar situation with my 87.  Suddenly it wouldn't start.  I put the charger on the side post bolts and left it overnight.  Next day, it still wouldn't start.  I moved the cables and the positive cable sparked between the cable and battery.  It had apparently vibrated loose.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Is this a side terminal thing?  I do not recall this happening with a top terminal setup.
