7 of us ate a business luncheon at a restaurant, at 2pm, meaning we got there at 2, ordered, but were not served until after 3:30. We ate, and were gone by 4:07. The place was not particularly busy, and the food was OK.
The cheque was presented to me, complete with 25% gratuity added. According to the cheque, 15% was automatically added to the bill on groups of 8 or more, after 5pm. I commented on this, and the waitress got an attitude, and told me "close enough". I nodded, and left her a nickel, telling her that that was "close enough". I spoke with the manager, and who said that the bill was the bill, and, he could not change it.
I requested that the owner call me, and left a business card. Looking at the cheque, the waitress charged us for a meal we did not receive.
This should be interesting. 25% is a very nice tip. I can't say I usually tip that much.
