A story about the Ramblin' Wreck told by one of my high school teachers (a minister) was that the first Ramblin' Wreck wasn't very cosmetically beautiful. On it was a sign that read "Don't Laugh, Ladies. If it wasn't for the paint you'd look like Hell, too."
My Dad worked a mile or so from Georgia Tech and one of the first cars was designed to fold up, bringing the front and rear wheels near each other as they drove along in parades. The car was built in the shop where my Dad worked. They loaned out space for the Tech students to build it. Dad's company built conveyor and assembly line systems for the automotive and paper industries so they had the equipment and steel needed for the students to do the mods.
