Why would anyone do this???

You may have read in another thread that I had a coolant leak in my silver Formula on the way home from the meeting. A hose had rubbed against a metal edge and was cut. I just happened to have a hose in my garage, a section of which was just perfect to fix the problem. Here's a picture of my "new" hose in place:

As you can see, it's almost a straight shot, requiring only a hose with a slight bend.
Now here's what I removed:

Why on earth would anyone in their right mind put a hose like that in the location shown in the first picture???

The previous owner wasn't really active in the club.  Most likely he took the car to just any shop that was willing to work on it.  Many shops don't want you telling them what they need to do, even when they don't know what to do.  Had he sought help through the forum, he would probably have found a suitable hose and a knowledgeable shop.  Then again, he could have been on the road and the shop just used whatever they had to get him moving again.

It's no. 18. Mine appears to be a more direct path than what is shown in that diagram.

It certainly does; however, that may have been the correct hose, based on the diagram.  Interesting.

Out of curiosity, are those the correct clamps?  They appear to work, but I thought the clamp was the flat one, rather than this wire version.

Those were the clamps that were already there. They work fine.

I was just wondering if the previous owner changed those, also.  Certainly they should work fine.  I'm going to see what my clamps are.

My Fiero does have the same clamps there, so I guess those are stock.
