Better Screws for your Dew Wipes
« on: February 19, 2020, 09:59:03 pm »
I had to change the dew wipes on my 3800 car, so I figured that there must be a a better way to mount them than the Phillips head screws normally used. So I went to the hardware store and got these:

One of the actual screws:

The screws are longer than the stock screws, but not too long. Their heads are higher, but once mounted, they are a good distance from the glass.
The best part is that you can use one of these to turn the screws.

This particular wrench has a tilted box end that is perfect for turning the two screws that you can't get to straight on.

For the screws that you can get to straight on, you can use a changeable bit screwdriver with no bit in it.
And if you ever have to change the same dew wipes again, the job will be easier.
I have several of these screws, so if you need some, let me know. I can bring them to a club meeting.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

Good tip. I used Stainless Steel screws when I had to change mine out. If I remember correctly, I also put a bit of anti- seize on them too. Should out last the car
