Farewell Dragon
« on: October 11, 2024, 12:57:01 pm »
I don't know if any of you know, but I am gradually losing my sight due to macular degeneration. The other day, I took a "Medicare wellness physical", and part of it was an eye test. With my right eye, I could not clearly see even the big letters on the top row. I can still see a few rows down with my left eye, but it's getting worse too. So I am saying goodbye to RFTH and will not be going any more.

It's sad to hear that, Pat. Not that you will miss our events but the loss of your vision. Is there any corrective procedure that can be done?
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

There's this stuff that they inject directly into your eyes that's supposed to slow down the progression of the degeneration, but the retina specialist I saw did not recommend it because it is new, and there have been reports of people going blind after the injections. So I'm not going to do that.

Real sorry to hear that Pat.
My neighbor has been getting those shots in her eyes for over a year now
and they have definitively slowed the progress and actually improved her vision.
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.
