Rear swaying mystery solved

Actually figured it out all by myself  ;D
Lower rear right ball joint has got at least 1/2 inch play! Completely worn out.

Anybody know where the best place is to get them?

Disregard, found brand new ones (set of 2) at www.worldsuspension.com for $27.00 with free shipping

Next question: Anyone know how hard they are to replace? Anything I need to pay attention to?

Thanks, but when I called, they told me 5-8 days, as they don't have them right now, which I found strange, but hey, mine are on the way.

Did you check to see where they're made? Wouldn't want china crap on your suspension (Chinese made ball joints have been known to break).

Thanks, I went and ordered a set from him too. I'll install whichever one arrives first. Has anyone installed these before?
Any tricks, special tools I need to make it easier?

IIRC you have to drill out the rivits. They are rivited in. Also I have a set sitting in my shop(lower a arms) I will take a picture for you or you can have to practice on.

Replaced both rear balljoints while I was at it and took care of my achsle shaft gaskets and a new dog bone also - What a difference!
Rides really smooth now.


She also needs new engine mounts, old ones are really torn up. But first I need a new A/C compressor and drier.
That's my July project  ;D

Don, I hope these problems aren't on the 85?

No no, except for an idle problem right after starting, the 85 is fine. It's something I wanted to ask at the next meeting anyways.
But right now, since Anne and I couldn't find a decent V6 Notchie, I've recommitted to getting the 84 to the best I can with my limited resources/knowledge, and I think I'm doing fine. Anne still loves her 'lil "Dukie", which keeps me happy  ;D

Once air is working, she will finally get a paint-job and hopefully that will be it for a while.
