Tire Pressure / Tread Depth Gauge recommendation
« on: April 29, 2013, 07:34:16 pm »
On the recommendation of a tire technician at Firestone/Bridgestone, I found a combination Tire Press / Tread Depth Gauge for $10 at Home Depot.

Digital readouts in point5/psi increments from 5 to 99 psi.

About the size of an auto alarm remote, it's not real sturdy if you bang things around a lot, but we calibrated it against a $300 gauge at the Firestone/Bridgestone tire shop and it was accurate right down to the 1/2 pound on each of the four tires on my wife's car.

Made by Husky, the Model number is 925D-6HOM and Home Depot SKU is 968438

That's pretty good on the accuracy.  I've got one similar to the Campbell Hausfeld model shown on that link.  I don't know if it's accurate, but at least I can keep my tires equally inflated.  Bring yours to the meet so I can compare the accuracy of mine.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I have a manual version that the chevrolet dealer I used to work for uses.  Its the size of a pen and clips in your pocket with a pen clip.  Use it before I buy used tires to get a better feel for what I'm getting.
