Wheel size question 18x8 40 offset
« on: April 29, 2017, 08:54:00 am »
Any experiences in this department? I found some 18" wheels that I like and am wondering if they'd fit without surprises. I've referenced the chart on pff.  It shows no issues, but I'm wondering about hidden issues,.like rubbing in full-lock turning, catching ruts, general feel changes and expectations.
Offset is 40, so it'd be a little in more from the hub centerline than normal. Would 2mm make a difference?

Edit: currently stock hi-tech 6x14" 35mm. So it would be a 5mm difference from centerline.

The wheels should fit just fine. If the car is an 88, they will be a bit wide in front, but still OK.
The more complex the mind, the greater the need for the simplicity of play.

Check for clearance at the rear strut spring boss.  If they clear by 1/8 inch, you shoulg be good under all driving conditions because that clearanse doesn't change.
