Rear pillar speaker covers
« on: November 22, 2014, 11:03:34 pm »
Well, I learned today that the rear speaker covers aren't removable. Does anyone know if universal speaker covers would work? If not, any thoughts?

As you found out, the covers are thermal welded to the panel.  I believe I have a pair of gray ones that came from the club parts car.  I may also have a pair of oval black covers that would mount onto the package tray of a car for rear speakers.  That is if I haven't thrown them away.  I'll look to see.  For those, you would need to remove the cover on the other panel to make them match.  Also drill holes and put screws and nuts to hold them on.  I'll look tomorrow.

Thanks. I may have to modify the grills and they should look okay.

The speaker grills I have can be used in several different configurations.  They will allow you to use speakers with larger magnets, something you can't do with the stock setup.  I'll send you some email pictures.  It's easier than resizing and posting them here.  They're yours just for shipping if you can use them.  I've had them for years, planning to use them in a non-Fiero, but never did.

Be forwarned that speakers are not removable thru the holes when you remove the covers. Seems domb but I am not an engineer.
