need advice on several issues.
« on: July 20, 2015, 11:31:37 pm »
I know some of my issues are covered in the FAQ but with as many as I have I eould like afvise fom someone that is familiar with an 86 4CYL.   I will post a list below and if anyone has any ideas or tios please let me know

1. no headliner nothing but bare body panel  (anyone have a grey  one to sell?
2id o the way
3. The switch to start it in the searing column works but will not engage the starter.there is a push button I installed on place of the huge toggle switch he was using. It has a hot wire from the fuse box to the button then a wire ran through a hole in the firewall going down to the starter
4. It runs fine but at times it will hesitate and almost like the engine is stopping and restarting  this normally happens when I start moving from a dead stop.  When it happens a couple yellow lights on the dash flash on and off quickly and the tackometer jumps,
It does run good and I hit 150MPH private road no owned by a farmer after they took his land and built a new road leaving him a nice long runway.
5 At times the battery light would glow dimly then go out  According to a voltmeter I hooked up to make sure it was charging it always hit around 13 volts when running.
6. Tonight the battery light would not go off and the voltage never got over 11.7 volts   it would drop don to under 10 when the hearer fan, radio, and headlights anf wipers on but jumped back to 11.3-11.7 after a few seconds,  I could not see ant difference in the output of the lights and it ran like that for about an hour with the headlights on so I know it is charging some.  I unhooked the positive post on the battery and used a voltmeter to check for any drain that would be happening if a hot wire was frayed and making contact with a ground.   It was raining to much to look at it much, I just wanted to insure there was not a eifr that could cause a fire.  I left the battery unhooked anyway.
7 looking under the dash I found several hacked wires one of which is a thicker red one that I think may be the one that engaged the starter
Anyone have a link for a under dash wiring diagram?
8. There is a trunk release button but it does not work so I am assuming that is one of the hacked up wires because using a jumper wire from the battery the mechanism does work.
I would like to think anyone that can give me some help beforehand.

I have health issues including a bad back and partially paralyzed right leg so I have problems crawling around under it so it may take me a day or two to check out anything suggested.
People laugh at me getting i in and out of my vette and its even worse with the Fiero
I am 6.2 and weigh over 300   but because of the type issues I have it is much easier to get in and out of a car low on the ground.
