A Japanese cargo space vehicle is on it's way to the International Space Station. (Japan is one of the countries that supports the ISS, and they send up some cargo every year or so.) On this particular vehicle is some whiskey -- not for the astronauts to drink, bu for an experiment. A Japanese whiskey company (I didn't even know there was such a thing) wants to see if aging whiskey in zero gravity will make it mellower than aging it on earth. They have sent up two batches. The first will be tested (not sure how) in September 2016, and the next two years after that.
Hopefully the whiskey company (Suntory Whiskey) has financed this and not put the burden on Japanese tax payers.
