Anyone have an old steering laying around. I saw about the electric power steering, looks enticing. Dont want to take mine apart without having a spare.

thanks, Scott

Hi Scott,
I'm sure I have a column, if not loose in one of the parts cars. What year do you need (does it make a difference?).
You can PM me or email me at ImThaDriver at yahoo.

Hey Paul, this is for an 86 SE, Im not sure if they are any differences. Needs to be tilt with cruise control.

Well I finally remembered to check & the '86 is tilt & cruise. If you want to come pull it, it's yours for $40.
Thanks,
Paul

Automatic and manual columns are different.
Manual columns have the key release lever. Automatics do not.

With that said, I left the automatic column in my car, when I converted to the 5 speed.
The only time it would be an issue is in a panic situation if you have to cut the engine off. With the automatic column it will be easy to inadvertantly lock the steering.

I am not worried about that Steve. I am going to butcher it anyway to try and do the electric PS conversion. I am quite intrigued with this upgrade.
