Who needs a power mirror?
« on: February 21, 2018, 02:19:40 pm »
I remember someone at one of our recent meetings saying that they need a power rear view mirror. I can't remember who it was. But we have two or three driver's side power mirrors in the barn, and I have the "guts" to a passenger side power mirror. I made a boo-boo on the passenger side mirror of my yellow car (the housing now has a dent in it). The only good housing I could find in the barn was a power mirror, so I took the guts out of it, and will put my manual mirror guts in it when I have painted it. So if you need a passenger side power mirror, and have a good housing, I can fix you up. I will even put the guts into your housing for you (it's a bit tricky).
BTW, the passenger side housing on my "parts car" also is dented, so I couldn't use that one.
It's kind of strange that they put metal mirror housings on a plastic car. My other cars are metal, and have plastic mirror housings.

You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Pat, I think I have a right side manual mirror.  All you'd need do is to have it repainted.  Or put a couple of those mirror socks over both.

3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

The Firebird mirrors weren't quite the same. They mounted at a different angle. If you mount a Firebird mirror on a Fiero, it looks like it's drooping. (Been there, done that.)

I just checked and I do have a set of manual mirrors.  They're in very good condition.  The glass on the right side is in very good condition.

I've already sanded down the housing I took the electric guts out of in prep for sanding, but I could put them in one of yours if anyone needs a power mirror.

that would be me. I have a power mirror system on the parts car that I want to put in the orange car. I am missing one of the mirrors, but forget which one. Will be going to the shop today to find out.
