Coolant tube drain plugs?
« on: December 19, 2018, 05:58:19 pm »
I was browsing Rodney's site, and saw these.  Where on the coolant tubes do these go?

They are on the bottom surface of the tubes near the rear, about the area where the Fiero jack fits into the notch.  Just forward of where the downward curve from the engine transitions to the straight part of the tube.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Hmmm.  Never noticed that.  Maybe I should check mine.

That's probably a good place for them.

Well... until someone sticks a jack under the rocker, and bends the end of the tube upward.

I looked there.  Maybe I'm blind.  Are the plugs hidden, somehow?

Seems like mine are ~1 foot from the back end of the tube. They're behind the jack point.

Why do they require a special tool to remove?

I don't remember which it was, the Warrior Project or the Fastback Formula, but one of them had a leaking plug.  We tightened it with either a Torx bit or an Allen wrench.  What do the replacements use?

This is the tool Rodney shows.  He doesn't offer tools for nothing.

I found them, but they did not look how I expected, at all.
