Sidemarker Lights
« on: March 04, 2019, 11:40:18 am »
OK, here's a question for you Fiero electrical gurus.Installing a key-less power door lock system as soon as I have a weekend with good weather.I have everything figured out as to the wiring........except.....where is the best location to plug into either the sidemarker lights or turning signals? The control module will be close to the steering column, unless somebody tells me that it is better placed on the passenger side. This was a NO-OPTION Coupe, so there are no existing harnesses or anything.

Thnx!

I assume you want to flash the lights when you lock or unlock the car. The easiest thing to do is connect the remote module to the parking light wire. This will not flash the lights as brightly as when you are braking or using turn signals, but it will flash all of them, including the rear side markers, which are not flashed when turning or braking. That's how I hooked up my yellow car.
Another option is to connect it to the brake wire for the rear lights, and to the front turn signal wires through diodes, so as to not interfere with their normal operation. This is how I hooked up my silver car. The lights flash at full brightness, but the rear side markers don't flash.

All I can tell you is look in the repair manual to see what wire color the wire you want is, and look for that color. That's what I did. Other than that, I can't remember exactly where the wires are anymore. It's been a while.
