Exhaust Crossover Bolts
« on: June 28, 2014, 08:20:37 am »
I have discovered that the best bolt to use is the upper plenum bolts , they are chrome plated and will not rust in place, they are the correct length thread and look good on the engine. Just make sure you have a good 10mm 12point socket to install them. Also use high temp never-sieze on the threads. Also they are case hardened and very hard to break. I have them on the last three 3.4 engines and have had no problem with them. Had to remove a set after a year, came right out. They are easy to get, from any V-6 Fiero . There are 10 on every plenum and you only need four. aerodon!!

Has anyone else tried this?  It sounds like a good idea, but are the threads correct?

I was looking at these just this morning thinking about replacing as a I am going to remove and repaint the exhaust while everything else is coming off!

Don't have a source of these bolts to check though.

TFS carries the plenum bolts, and I have a set, but never tried them.

It appears the threads are correct.  The nut for the manifold is attached to it.  Oddly, those style bolts weren't on the Aerodonamic car.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

His personal vehicle?  Odd.

With the plenum bolts being hardened, they will easily destroy the threaded nuts on the manifolds, if cross-threaded.

I can verify that the plenum bolts work on the manifolds.
