Power outages in ATL?
« on: August 14, 2019, 09:02:58 pm »
The power kept going on and off at a facility in Atlanta, today.  Used about an hour of fuel on the generator.  Not sure what's going on down there.  Technically not my facility, but I manage the equipment.  In theory, no services through the equipment were down, but something upstream was down.

I had just recently completed a firmware update,.  When the power went off, the first call was someone blaming the firmware update.  3 days ago?  Nope.

Where is your facility located? I might be able to find out something.

It's been hotter than the hinges of hell, here. Was 100 yesterday. Not sure about today.
I really don't think we are approaching "maximum load" on the grid, here, but we are always careful to keep things well maintained, in case of any unforeseen circumstances.
...or somebody may have taken out a power pole. It happens.

Not really sure about the location.  There are 2 facilities in ATL.  Only 1 went down.  Together, the facilities handle a considerable amount of the web traffic in that area.  All I have are IP addresses.  My belief is that they are on opposite sides of the city.
