Caffeine and Octane July 2020
« on: July 05, 2020, 01:55:51 pm »
Today I braved the outside world, and went to the Caffeine and Octane car show. Here are some pictures.

My car. The guy parked next to me left almost as soon as I arrived. I must have scared him away.

The only other Fiero I saw was this red 84, with the rare lambs wool seats. The car's owner, Andrew Small, stands to the right. He lives in some small town in South Georgia. He said it's too far away to come to our meetings.

It's a 55.  It has straight horizontal chrome on the sides.  They also had the gas door on the side of the rear fender.

All 56's had chrome that sloped downward to the rear bumper end except the low end models.  Most 56's had dual chrome strips from the headlight, with the area between them being the same color as the rear quarter and deck lid.  That is, except for the 210.  It only had a single strip of chrome from the headlight that sloped downward to the rear bumper end.  I think there was also a base model that had just a short strip or no chrome on the sides.

The gas flller for the 56 was behind the left tail light.  There was ribbing in the chrome and the one above the lens that radiated to the top of the assembly could be twisted to allow the tail light to drop down.  It had square parking lights.

You can see the differences in the 55 and the 56 that Pat just posted.  Lots of similarities in the body lines.  They shared the same windshields and I think th back glass.  Not sure about the side glass.  Most of the differences in the body was in the grill and tail end.

As always, lots of beautiful cars at C&C.  Thanks for sharing, Pat.

How were the crowds?  I thought about going but I twisted an ankle last week and have been trying to stay off it.

The crowds were a bit too crowded, considering the way things are. I wore a mask when venturing out among them, and spent most of the time at my car. The show was supposed to last until 11, but some people started leaving around 10:30, so I did also.
I'm sure if I had ventured farther from my car than I did, I could have found more nice cars to take pictures of.

I figured it might be crowded as it was to be filmed for tv.  That usually brings out more people and better cars.  Did you get there early?  Seems some folks been coming in later and staying past noon while others do the 4am thing to get premium parking and leave around 9 or 10.

I got there a little after 7, but still managed to get in with some good cars.
