Rich, altogether
« on: August 07, 2020, 08:50:16 am »
For an '84 2.5 L4, it runs rich.  I'm trying to figure out how to adjust the fuel ratio.  Any ideas?

If the injector was taken out during the rehab, it's possible that one of the gaskets was left out.  I did that on the Duke Coupe when I replaced the injector.  It was dumping fuel around the base of the injector.  Take the cover off the air filter and watch it.  Also, verify that the CTS wasn't replaced with a temp gauge sending unit.  The kids might not know the difference and spliced in the wrong sender.

The sensors appear to be correct.  The injector was replaced.

I can't really complain about the kids' work.  Apparently, having been cooped up with nothing to do, they were happy to have some purpose.  They got a lot done in a short time.

I'm not familiar with the 84 injector, but if it's anything like the 88 duke injector, it could be the injector O-ring.

Well, after it comes back from inspection, we'll see.

The injectors are almost identical but not interchangeable.  It seems they changed about maybe '86.  The 87 and 88 injectors are the same.  If it's the O-ring, you can really see the flood of fuel coming out, rather than just at the nozzle.

So, the O-ring would leak externally, right?

On the 88 injector, a leaking O-ring allows gas to pour down the throttle body throat.
