Nice meeting you too! I may pick your brain about the 4.9 F40 thing.
I've got a T-550 (aka Cavalier Getrag) in mine. It really needs one more gear.

THe F40 is a 6 speed trans, yes. The trans itself has a few different variations depending on what platform it was residing in. Mainly the Pontiac and Regal stateside. The one that us Fiero guys are looking for is the one out of a Pontiac G6.

MWeldon has a hybrid F40 built with parts from two different ones to get the perfect (for his build) final drive ratio. They were in everything from Pontiacs to Saabs. Nice units but need some fab work and brackets to make right. A quick search on Pennoks will net you more info than you could need.

Other good options are the F23 (using in my build) and some of the hybrid/cryo getregs.

Also, sorry I couldn't make the meeting yesterday. Leaving town for a week for work so the honey do list is pretty intense this weekend.

Right, if you look up FieruGuru he has talked extensively about the F40. Doing a hybrid F40 is not for the faint of heart. The F23 is a great transmission as well. Me personally I liked the idea of having a 6 speed in my Fiero, had nothing to do with anything else.  ;)

Ya, I chose the F23 for the price and the gearing being a great fit for the motor I am swapping in.
