Factory radio
« on: November 23, 2020, 08:05:47 am »
Does anyone have the factory radio brackets I can buy? The install kit I bought that has a little cubby requires them and mine already had an aftermarket one.

Also there is a small two pin plug but the aftermarket kit only has one wire. What is the second wire?

One of them is "keep alive" (constant 12V from battery) IIRC, and the other is connected to the dash lights.

One diagram I saw showed two dash light connections “dimmer” I suppose, so one is not used. I was thinking about using it for some small led accent lights. They pull very very low amps.

My radio uses the dimmer.

I am going to try attaching the led accent lights to it as the new radio does not have a dimmer wire... concerning.

I made brackets but would like the originals if anyone has them laying around

I know mine used the dimmer, because I tested after vhangine the interior lighting to LEDs, and the dimmer worked.  I always have my interior lights on full bright, though.
