I always thought there should be one of those on the front, also, to make tying thing down easier.

There are several slots in each of the ribs on the decklid for tieing down.  I once transported a case of 200 sheets of 28 x 44 poster board close to 100 miles on an 85GT without tieing it down.  The sail panels prevented it from sliding off the sides and the stock spoiler kept it from going off the rear.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I understand about the slots.  I also know a friend in college had a car with a luggage rack.  He steapped the cooler to the luggage rack.  Some miles down the highway, the luggage rack parted company with the car.  I believe he used racheting straps.  He claimed not.  We never found the cooler.
