Several years ago, I had read on the Dragon website that Swift Trucking was one of the major problems of attempting to navigate The Dragon. I guess they really weren't too swift. Printed maps really don't show the severity of the curves. Someone said that dispatchers sometimes would send a rookie or a renegade driver through there just to teach them a lesson. For someone up around Maryville, Tn, needing to get down to Murpny, NC, for example, it looks like a good shortcut and compared to other roads that are suitable for trucks, it cuts off probably 100-150 miles.
Truly, there needs to be signage placed at The Dragon's Den on the southern end and up at the lake on the northern end specifying that vehicles over a given length are prohibited. That should include motor homes towing vehicles, too. Right HarryT?
