I have my 13 year old Granddaughter to carry one end of the banner.  Anyone have someone to carry the other end?  We've got to have a banner carrier to be in the parade.

This is the most cars we've had in several years if everyone shows up.  Let's don't miss the parade because no one can carry our banner.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Does the carrier have to be a girl?

No, but ideally they should be about 5' to 5'4" to make it easier on the arms.  That way one won't have to walk with the banner held up higher to match the other person.  Mackenzie is about 5' 2".

I'll have to see if one of our grandsons are available.

Bad News, Everyone.  We just received an email from the Atlanta St. Patrick's Parade that they have rejected our application due to the limitation on the number of units they can have.  They apologized and invited us to apply again, next year.

So....let me make sure I am clear on this.  Last year, we sent in an application and they claimed they didn't get it....therefore we weren't allowed to be in the parade.  This year, we applied early and verified they got it....and they rejected us.  Is this starting to feel like a conspiracy to anyone else?

I have 2 major contacts with the parade.  One is the man who receives the apps and the one who sent us the rejection notice.  He isn't the one who makes the decision.  There is a committee that does that.  After the parade, I'll contact him and a lady that I always dealt with in the past years to find out exactly what's going on.

In the rejection letter, it was suggested we submit pictures and videos of our group, though there's no provision for that in the electronic application.

Friday, February 8, 2013

Dear St. Patricks Day Parade Committee,

Thank you for your letter of February 6. After careful consideration, we regret to inform you that we are unable to accept your refusal to offer us a position in your parade.

This year we have been particularly fortunate in an unusually large number of rejection letters. With such a varied and promising field of automobiles, it is impossible for us to accept all refusals.

Despite your committee's outstanding qualifications and previous experience in rejecting applicants (i.e.; us), we find that your rejection does not meet our needs at this time. Therefore, we will assume the applied for position in the parade on the 16th of March 2013.

We look forward to seeing you then.

Best of luck in rejecting anyone else again. Ever.

Sincerely,
The Georgia Fiero Club

I think we need to retain you as our Legal Eagle.   Roger Newton, Esquire

Soon, all of our contentious issues will be summarily ameliorated.

I can't afford to grease a polititians palm, I'd prefer to slap them in the face, tell the press that they offended me, I took their remarks as a threat and it's my Constitutional right to do so to protect the American Way.
So there.

I actually feel that the committee is acting in a racist manner. Very unbecoming. And illegal.
I have Irish blood in me and I am offended.

Let's press charges.

I want to see you send in a video via fax.... lol...

Geez if not seeing the cars was an issue someone should have emailed or called and said we need to see who is participating.  nEveryone who wanted to participate could have submitted a picture to put up in a thread and give them a link.  Or a temporary cardomain page could have been set up... good grief!

What a crock!

Lol... thats what I was thinking.  Esp since they screwed up last year, I would have though we would have been a accepted no problem.

Sheesh

Sadly no....

My little fellow is still not aligned, so I can't force that long of a run on him.  Cant get anyone with a welder to my house... lol... I seriously need to learn to weld.  I have to shorten the bump stops before I get it aligned.

Patty has that weekend booked already with a 5k she is doing with Dakotah.

I sent an inquiry last night to Ed Moran, Parade Committee Chairman of the Atlanta St. Patricks Parade.  I told him we felt that there were reasons for our rejection, other than that our fax failed to show up or that the parade was too large.  I asked if he could let us know what the real reason was so that in future years we might correct the problems.

This is his reply

Hello Charles:

Thanks for contacting me about the Atlanta St. Patrick's Parade.

The decision not to include the Georgia Fiero Club was not an arbitrary decision.  The Parade Committee is constantly under pressure from city officials to reduce/contain the size of the parade. More and more we are having to reject units that do not have Irish connections.

Even the Deloreans (who applied late) were turned down. This is a car made in Ireland.

The Scions, who have raised significant money for us over the years, were accepted under the condition they greatly reduce the number of vehicles in the parade.

We had some convertibles for dignitaries.

You might enter early for next year, understanding that even if the committee allows us to accept you, only a few cars will be allowed.

Thanks for your many years of support.

Sincere best wishes,
Ed Moran

Ed Moran, Chairman
Atlanta St. Patrick's Parade, Inc.
