Pontiacs At The Forge is a Washout
« on: January 17, 2013, 01:45:04 pm »
Well, at least the road getting there is.  US Hwy 441, Newfound Gap Road between Cherokee and Gatlinburg suffered a landslide and the road is closed indefinitely.  If we are going up that way, it might be wise to plot a different route.  There is no other really good ways to get there since there are no small back roads that get around the landslide.  A link to the story.......

You could take I-40 to north of Pigeon Forge and then come down through Sevierville on highway 66.
I'm sure Dolly Parton will do her best to get that road fixed soon -- it could affect her business!

Yeah, Blue Ridge Parkway to 278 North to I-40 West.  From down here, I'd recommend US 129 through The Dragon, then right on the Foothills Parkway and go over to Hwy 321.  Much, much more fun.

OR you could all come by my house on the way and ride up thru HWY 321 and up thru the twisties either thru the National park or up wears valley road, either way is a beautiful ride especially in a Fiero and you come out either in Gatlinburgh or Pigeon forge depending on the road you choose....hopefully my Fiero will be worth showing by then but I plan to be there. What is the planned date anyway?  Peace

I believe it's always the first weekend in June.
