30th Anniversary Pictures
« on: June 29, 2013, 05:03:58 pm »
If you have pictures from the 30th anniversary, post them here.
This first set of pictures is from Track Day on Friday...

Lining up at the hotel to leave for the track...

Staging at the track infield...

Below are aerial pictures of the staging. See the guy on top of the electrical box?
I gave my camera to a guy on another box to take these pictures.
I wasn't about to climb the box myself.

On the track!

After driving on the track, we went to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame...

A bird nesting on "FAME"...

The real pace car, not a copy...

Here are some fascinating cars at the museum...

The track day from the previous pictures was on Friday. On Saturday, we had the car show. Here are the first of many pictures form that.

I stood on my trunk to get aerial pictures of as many of the cars as I could. In the first picture below, you can see the deck lid of my car, and Don's car next to it.

Below is the engine in the yellow car in the last picture -- the prettiest Duke you ever saw. This is a woman's car, which we found out when Don started talking to her husband about it. He said, "Don't ask me, it's her car."

More pictures later. I'm tired and need sleep.

Eeeeeek!  I changed my mind, I want to go!  Back up everything and start over!   :D

Sure wish I could have afforded the time off...  I drove the IMS track in 1971 in my Opel GT, but never in what was an official Pace Car like the Fiero!

How big is the crowd?  Any Meras?  I'd love the opportunity to speak face-to-face with some other Mera owners sometime.

Have fun, be safe, and START YOUR ENGINES!

Best,

No real Meras, but some re-bodies.
My next picture collection -- Inside cars (trailer queens?)...

Tyler Shipman's car...

This car started out as Pace Car no. 3, and became a PPG Pace Car prototype...

Thanks for the great photos!

Glad to see Tyler Shipman's car is being preserved and taken care of so well!!!

My next set of pictures...

Paul Hossler's race car...

Nice lambo doors...

Smooth chop top...

I like these wheels...

Definitely a work in progress...

The last Indy...

Wow, I thought my Mera was in nice shape!  I like the Viper-looking blue one with the white stripes, and the open-roll cage V6 work-in-progress!

My Mera looks like a demolition derby car compared to some of these, but I'm glad I can drive it often and not worry about a little chip here and there.

One more picture -- the most hallowed finish line in racing.

The only bricks left on the "Brickyard".

Get any pics of mine and Colin's when we were parked side by side in the corner?

Here's a video I made of track day. This is edited pieces, and there's no audio. I thought about adding "Born to be Wild", or "Magic Carpet Ride", but at this pace, maybe some "elevator music" would be better.

This pic was a tad too big to post here, so here is a link to pff.

Most of my pics are just a rehash of what you have already posted.
I did get a few of Don and his car, though.

One of our favorite hangouts. :D The Fiero Warehouse tent.
