Drivers Door Latch
« on: September 15, 2013, 08:49:10 am »
Is anyone aware of a drivers side door latch that interchanges with the Fiero?
Preferably from a 4-door (rear, that hasn't seen a lot of use).

So far, I've been unable to locate anything from Fiero and GM sites online.
You can't fix stupid but, you can adjust it with a 2x4.

Do you have a part number?  It might be that it will cross reference with other cars of the era, like Cavalier, Corsica, Cimmaron or the smaller cars.  There are several Fieros at pullapart.  Buford Highway and in Conley.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

If your problem is a rattling door, consider the usual trick of using a Ford striker bolt. See this thread, and this one.

GM part number 20505072

It's listed in Section 12.895 of the P22 as "BLOCK, DR OTR PNLATCH

I'll try a new pin as suggested but the latch mechanism has a lot of play in the catch.

UPDATE:
A new pin has helped but apparently the latch is soon going to need replacing.
GM p/n 20505072 has been discontinued.
