Club Facebook page
« on: October 28, 2013, 10:58:39 am »
I recently took over the Facebook page and after some thought, would like to create a new page and eventually disable the old one (after posting a link to the new facebook page for several weeks so everyone can join it).  The biggest reason being that when this page was first created, it was created as a "personal" facebook page rather than a facebook page for a community, organization, etc.  I run 2 other facebook pages, and found that it is best to have them set up as the correct type of page.

My goal is to get more traffic on the new page, as I see that not much was done with the other.  There are no photo albums - I would love for you guys to send me some pictures that I can post.  Several from different events would be great - just please tell me in the email or PM what event they were from (a date would be great, too).  I think it would be great if we could grow our club, and with social media being so popular these days, what better way than to have a facebook page showing all of the awesome cars and people in our club and the events that we participate in!  Everyone will still be able to post pictures, etc. on the facebook wall, you just can't create an album - I will have to do that, just like on your personal page - nobody can create an album but you.

I will create "events" for club meetings and events to let everyone know what we have going on.

Please let me know if you have any objections to any of the above.  I would like to get this going as soon as possible :).  If everyone is ok with this, I would like pictures sent to my email address - diehardjuniorfan@yahoo.com or via PM on here.

Thanks everyone!

Well I was going to give you the link to the album I made on motortopia from the 2006 meeting i attended and it won't work.  All the pics I have linked to on there are also down.

I know if you go the the club home page and scroll to the bottom of the page, there are some links to pictures at events...

Tinkerbell, I have tons and tons of pictures from over the years.  If you would prefer, I can burn them to CD and you can add them at your leisure.  If I send them via email or PM, I'm afraid we might have some experiences similar to the ObamaCare website.

I don't do Facebook at all and don't plan to, so anything I have would need to be placed there by someone else.  There are many others who don't have a Facebook account, too.

Is Facebook planned to replace our regular website?

Tink, we used to have a member named Keisha (I still wonder what happened to her), who published a PDF newsletter for the club. For a sample, click here. It might give you some ideas.

I wouldn't think Facebook would replace our regular website....no reason to do that, as I know that some don't use Facebook :)

Thanks in advance for the pictures!!

That's great - thank you!  Maybe we'll eventually go back to having a newsletter!  Baby steps, though....I'm going to get Facebook sorted out :).  I used to do our monthly Church newsletter, so it probably wouldn't be a problem.

Regarding Keisha (Miss Tress 007), I saw her 86SE listed in CraigsList, Eatonton, Ga. two or three years ago.  Her phone voice mail says there is no voice mailbox set up, yet.  They may have gone back to New Orleans.

I'll try to group all my individual pictures into albums so make it easier to identify.  Will try to bring some of them to the next meeting.

That would be great.  Thank you!

I have created the new page... https://www.facebook.com/GeorgiaFieros  I found some pictures on the website that I used to get us started.  I'll create more albums and add more pictures as I get them.   Those of you who have a Facebook page, please go "like" the new page.  I'm going to post a link on the old Facebook page...hopefully most everyone will come to the new page :)

We just got back from Florida tonight. As soon as I shake the sand out of my shoes and get some sleep, I, too, will burn a bunch of photos onto a CD for the new site!

I was reviewing the disks and found that they actually total 1110 MB.  I think that with submissions from others, you can really build an interesting page.  CowsPatoot, WhiteAndNerdy27 or Firefly just might have some pictures, too.

Thank you so much for getting them together for me  :)
