buncha fieros fo' sale!
« on: January 19, 2015, 09:01:42 pm »
There's a lady close to Augusta, whose husband has died, but not after amassing a collection of Fieros, mostly 84s, in varying states of repair and disrepair. If any of you are interested, I will go find specifics on each car. No parting out, just hauling away a complete car.
She's threatened to send them to the crusher if she can't find homes for them.

She may not have papers on them, so for a couple of hundred, get a car, strip what you want and it could be sold for scrap and recover cost.  Below 86, I believe doesn't require a title, so you could scrap them with a bill of sale.

.....or in Georgia, title them too with just a bill of sale.  Who wants a couple?

Can anyone tell by the photos which are '84s, which have V6s, etc?

They're all 84's or 85's except the one with the camper top.  It could be an 85GT or 86 or 87 SE.  If it's an 85, it will be a V6.  The 86 or 87 could be either L4 or V6.  Any of the 85's that are SE's could also be V6 or L4.

The one with the 13 inch turbine wheels is definitely an 84 and it's likely the one with steel wheels is an 84.  If the Interior vinyl pieces are in good condition and not warped or cracked, they can all be cleaned and dyed to go into any year.  Marker lights and tail lights and Generation 1 motors are good parts to have on hand.  If the 85GT is a 4-speed, that would be a good grab, and even any of the 4-cylinders that have manual transmissions.  Isuzu's are suitable behind a V6.

Radiators, if they still have coolant in them, original Harrison heater cores, cooling fans, Isolator relays for the headlights.  All of those things are good shelf items.

Why is the discussion moving towards parting these out?  These need a wrench thrown at them and put back on the road. Imho

I was talking about those that couldn't be put back on the road.  Since she wouldn't part them out on her property but wished to sell each one as a whole unit, someone might be able to pull some decent parts from the ones that were unsalvagable or where the restoration cost would be prohibitive.  The 85 appears to have been wrecked in the front and all the front compartment stuff is missing.  Getting them for parts would be much better than sending them to the crusher like she says she will do if they don't sell.

We're always about saving a Fiero if it's within reason.

I was thinking it would be beneficial to choose one and then a companion to pull parts from.

F85gtron and I went to get a closer look at the Fieros for sale.  He's the creepy looking guy in the hoodie and I'm the spooky reflection.

You will never meet a nicer person to purchase a car from than the lady who owns these vehicles.  However, IMHO, none of these Fieros will live again.  There's one V6 in the bunch that looks good.  It's the one with the camper lid.  The rest are 4s.  None of the fours were fully assembled. Most are '84s.   Generally, the parts were in the trunk.  Only one still had a steering column attached.  But there are a buncha good parts.

Almost all the cars have AC.
All the glass is in good condition.
Some good vents and decks.
Cruise, knobs, etc.

Maybe the Atlanta group can come over and we can have a stripping party and then send the cars off to a better place than they are now.  I suggest having this party before the weather turns hot and trees cover the cars.

Now that I know where they are, it seems to ring a bell.  Years ago, I got information about a man in that area that had a buncha Fieros.  I emailed with him, but he wouldn't sell a part nor just 1 car.  It was a package deal.  All or nothing.  These may have been the cars, though I see a lot of parts have been removed.

That is a good job of documenting.  Very thorough.

Thanks.

These might be good rollers if your interested in making a Fiero Ferrari.  That's beyond my expertise and way outside my desire.
