March 7th Stripping Party
« on: February 25, 2015, 09:35:22 pm »
Howdy Fiero Folks,

Who's going to the Fiero stripping party in North Augusta?

That morning, f85gtron and I will be at Coffee & Cars:
3830 Washington Rd
Martinez, Georgia 30907

We can all meet there, then head up to North Augusta to strip the Fieros.  http://www.gafiero.org/bbs/index.php?topic=1974.0

Who's in and what time can you get to Coffee & Cars?

Last I talked with Aerodonamic, he and I were coming.  My wife is back in the hospital again but she went in in better condition than when she went in 3 weeks ago.  I believe I'll be able to make it.  I'm planning to.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

I talked with Don a little earlier and he's still up to going.

Don has about a 1 1/2 hour drive to get to my house then it's a 5 hour round trip to Aikens.  Add an hour for lunch and maybe 2 hours for stripping and we've got a very full day.  I don't know if we will have time for Cars and Coffee.

I fully understand.  I've made the calculations more than once.

We need to meet somewhere though.

I'm not expecting a bunch of Fieros to show up since you'll be hauling stuff back.

What time do you expect to be in the Augusta area?  That would help me recommend a meeting place other than C&C.

Allowing Don to get here by 9, we should be there just before lunch time.  We could have a quick lunch then get on the way.  Roger Newton may come along and we'll all be traveling in my truck.  No one else has expressed interest in coming along.

Keep your eyes on this thread. I've been playing phone tag with the owner. I'm trying to confirm everything. If we're just talking taillights, i don't see why Paul and i couldn't pull them for you and get them to you at the parade?

Tail lights was just one item Don wanted.  I'm looking at steering wheels, maybe tail lights, interior trim pieces, exterior trim pieces and I think Roger might be interested in the exhaust system from the 86SE.  It's like the wives going window  shopping.  Never know what might be brought back home.  We also want to make the trip to be more interactive with your group.

Ask her if she's willing to take Pullapart prices.  Those can be found online and printed out for her to compare.

It's confirmed with the owner.  We're good to go. She said pull a part pricing is fine, or less. She's just happy to see the parts not going to the crusher.

Looks like we're meeting at the east bound South Carolina welcome center, just after exit 200, across the river, and just after the state line around 1130-ish. Frs radio channel 7.
(What's an frs radio?)

A little hand held radio about the size of an old flip phone. It employs CB channels plus a few more. Family Radio Service. We use them for communication while driving instead of phones so everyone can hear. I will bring 3.

I need a notchback tail light. If someone would get one for me, I'll pay you back.
I don't know which side right now, but will check this evening and update this post.
Thanks in advance.

We couldn't find professional strippers, so we made do with what we had.....
Notchback taillights grabbed for top-notch, dragged back by Fierofool. Don was like a kid in a candy store, Roger cursed his parts free of there surroundings, I went there, only thinking of grabbing a couple small things for myself, but ended up with a truckload, Paul had the same in mind, but didn't leave empty handed.  Daryl...I couldn't keep track of Daryl, he was constantly moving around.
