Fiero Factory Swap Meet
« on: February 18, 2009, 05:39:32 pm »
The Fiero Factory's 11th Annual Swap Meet will be on April 24th-26th. If you live in the Atlanta area and would like to convoy to the meet, please let me know. We will need to agree on a route and a time.

Ray and I are in.  Just let us know where and when to meet.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

It depends upon which way Pat wants to go.  If we take the high road up through Rome and Ft. Payne, we'll meet you there.  If we take the low road out I-20 to Oxford/Anniston and up 431, we could meet you in Anniston.

Cogcavi, you refer to a schedule.  Are you working again?

nope, still unemployeed(which is a record for me). my wife is ready to pop, she is 38weeks, so any time now. i'm going to stay home untill she is back on her feet. i was basicly saying that i dont know my schedule that far out, but i'd love to go and will try my best to get myself there.

I'm going. Will probably go over late Friday morning.
I usually go the I-20 to Oxford/Anniston/431 route, but if someone else wants to go on Friday AM, and wants to go through the hills, I could be persuaded...

Ray will probably leave Friday morning and are up for either direction as long as there's a group.  Pat, have you decided which route we'll take?

The way I usually go is GA20 - AL35 - US72. I pick up GA20 at I75, exit 290. You could also pick it up at Canton or Cumming.

Where does GA 20 cross through west GA? Cartersville? Rome?

Dewey... I'm probably not leaving that early. Probably more like 10:00, from D-ville.
I try to arrive at ~noon.
That ought to coincide with folks coming from the east. Perhaps?

It goes through Rome. That's the only bad part of the drive -- a bit slow going through Rome.

That's the way I usually go, too.  From out here, GA. 20 comes through Lawrenceville, Buford, Cumming and Canton.  When you get to Cartersville, you can avoid Rome by taking 411 and going over to 431 in Gadsden.  You can run along about 70 all the way, and it's much more scenic.  Huntsville's about 4-5 hours from out here and I like to get there in time to check in at the hotel, and go up to The Factory to see what kind of early bargains I might find.  Ray and I can be in Cartersville at the Cartersville Plaza by 10.  It's right on 411, Joe Frank Harris Pkway.

That sounds do-able.
Where is Cartersville Plaza in relation to Hwy 61, or I-75?
(I suppose I could mapquest it.)

I just checked it on Google.  Northbound on I-75, you can get off on East Main Street, Hwy 113, turn left and go to E. Church Street and split right.  After looking at the satellite image, it's gonna be difficult to get back onto the northbound lane when leaving Cartersville Plaza.

There's a business with a huge parking lot on the corner of East Main, East Church and US 41.  That'd be a good place to meet, and easy to get onto US 41 North to US 411.

Coming up Hwy 61, merge right onto West Main Street, cross over US 41 and turn left into the first parking lot.  There's a left turn lane.
