I was there earlier this morning but didn't drive around back.  I didn't see it up front so I came on home without going inside.  Got to be back down there tomorrow, so I may stop by.

OldOne owns it.  That's the one we went up to his house to do a tech day on last year.

Lots of work done on it.  It's a nice, clean engine bay.

It's one of the more nicely detailed Fieros I've ever seen.

Yeah...and look at that red hose coming out of the thermostat housing.  Tye MAP sensor looks nice, too.  The only thing that sticks out is the rusty coil.

What's up with that soft vacuum tube coming out of the EGR valve?

It has stainless vacuum lines.  Probably not Rodney's.  The set I have has a longer line.  Long enough to connect direct except on the 88.  There is a short extension for the 88.

this is my car although changed some since these photos were taken by someone. I have been trying to replace the altenater. I have taken every bolt out I can see or feel and still can`t get it out. its loose but won`t come out. I`m ready to give up, theres only so much I can do.

The only way to get it out is through the right wheel well, and then it still takes a lot of maneuvering.  It won't come out through the top or bottom.  Only the side.  The tie rod has to be taken loose and sometimes the alternator mount has to be loosened.  I remember Ashby working for about 4 hours to get Ray's alternator out, and Ashby was experienced.

Ed Parks left this advice on the old Fiero Factory website:
"Perhaps the best way for it is to sit the car on jackstands, take one end of the dogbone loose, and with a floor jack under the rear of the engine cradle, lower the back of the cradle by removing the 2 straight up engine cradle bolts. That will give enough clearance to take the alt out from the bottom.
Take negative battery cable off before starting alt removal."

I'm not sure where you'd put the jackstands, though. Just forward of the cradle is my guess.

If you do this, be sure your floor jack is more controllable than mine.  When I begin to lower it, it drops quickly due to a sticky valve.  It needs to be fully controllable to drop slowly, or a second set of jack stands should be placed at the rear of the cradle and adjusted high enough to allow only a few inches drop of the rear of the cradle. 

With this method, would the struts need to be loosened at the top?
