At 81, you must be spry, to still get in and out of a Fiero.

I'm not sure what 81 looks like, but differently for different people.

A guy working on a roof came over to look at my Fiero.  He remembered Fieros, but was a bit hazy on the specifics.  Still, it's always nice to get compliments.

Oh, yes.  While working on the cruise control module, my Fiero was outside, and a small crowd had gathered.  Each time we tested the Fiero, it had to go for a drive, about 4 miles to the highway, a short drive to the next exit, and back.  The people were waiting, when we got back.  After a while, we started giving rides.  Each time we got back, we'd let the Fiero sit for a bit, to check for fluid leaks.  After a while, it started raining, so we pulled the Fiero into the garage.  The crowd (7 or so people) stayed outside, in the rain.  Eventually, I told them we were done for the day, no more rides.  One of the guys stuck around to ask a few questions, but everyone left after we locked up for the day.

After doing some work on the 87 this morning, I took it out for a test run.  I had to go down to the bigger town in the county to the post office.  As I sat at a traffic light waiting to make a left turn, a big SUV made a right turn into my street.  And it stopped, holding up other traffic that was turning.  Wondering what was going on, I looked over and the guy had his mouth wide open in a joyful way and was very energetically giving me 2 thumbs up.  And it was all covered with yellow pollen.  Glad it wasn't washed and shiny else he might have gotten out and done cartwheels down the street.

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Enjoy hearing these stories.  The best I get is a confused look whereas I guess there people are getting a blast from their past and all the memories linked therein.

My younger daughter and I were getting out of my 87 when a 40 something guy stopped to ask about the car. Said he hadn't seen one in years. I don't think the line of cars behind him were too happy.

Some guy on a motorcycle pulled up next yo me, and gave me a thumbs-up.

Later, someone with VTECH stickers all over his beat-up junker pulled up next to me.  He kept surging, but I ignored him.  He got lost in traffic.

While filling up with fuel, today, the guy at the next pump asked, "Is it fancy car day?"  He indicated what he said was a "Bonnie" in the nearby car wash.  Now, that car certainly wasn't a bonneville.  It was yellow, and looked like a Corvette, from the rear.  Small, round lights, but not exactly like a Corvette, either.

After the guy finished fuelling, he walked around my Fiero, and made very positive comments.  He then commented that there weren't many left.  I suggested there could be 200 in Carlisle, PA, next month.  Hey, anything is possible.  Anyway, he said he'd keep that in mind.

Two compliments today.  Older gent asking what year and approving happily.  A woman walked by and said, "Beautiful car".
