my new 88 GT
« on: May 10, 2016, 02:18:52 pm »
I've owned 2 fieros previously, an 88 base 4 cyl auto, and an 88 formula 5 speed. So here's my new 88 GT! Its a 5 speed with power windows, mirrors, and trunk release. Has the performance sound switch too, but it appears someone has removed the subwoofer and enclosure. I'll have to check if it came with it or not on the option sticker.

Its pretty clean all around, especially the interior. only a couple issues I know of:

horn and cruise control not currently working (haven't checked fuses yet)
A/C not blowing very cold (probably needs a charge)
sail windows have the small aging cracks
missing passenger ash tray door
minor overspray in some areas (not bad at all)
a few rattles

otherwise its the nicest fiero i've seen except for a 9000$ GT I checked out a couple years ago that was garaged with like 40k on it. I'm sure there are nicer ones some of you have, I just haven't seen a ton of fieros.

got it for $3500. what do you guys think? I'll get some more detailed pics inside and out later.

Then again, there are some that don't look so good, but run just fine!
I hope you can make it to our next meeting (this Saturday), so you can see a few.
BTW, nice car!

thanks! of course looks better in pics but really not much to complain about

Nice looking 88!

Before charging your A/C, vacuum out the blower.  Mine was tangled in stuff and barely worked until I removed the fan blades.

Looks great- nice find and grats!

I've wanted a red '88 GT forever but whenever I have the money to buy one they're nowhere to be found.  :-\  So far this is closest I've been to owning one (or at least parts of one). Sad day

I'd been patiently (not really) looking around for quite a while trying to find an example that didn't break the bank but was nice. I'll tell ya what its getting hard

I didn't remove my fan, but just the resistor beside it.  See my thread on heater core replacement to see what I got out.  I also pulled some from inside while I had the core out.

I can't make the meeting tomorrow, but hope to see that nice 88 on the RFTH Trial Run next Saturday.

About all you need to do is clean up the engine compartment.
BTW, those seats are pretty. It's hard to find original seats that look so good.
