Van tires question
« on: January 06, 2018, 08:16:42 am »
I have an '08 Toyota Sienna (CE?) with 180,000 miles and a wobble from the front passenger side wheel cuz I hit a curb awhile back.
It wears 215/65R16 tires.

Craigslist has P225/60/R17 wheels and tires from a 2006 Sienna. https://columbia.craigslist.org/wto/d/toyota-sienna-wheels-and-tires/6447985421.html

I've checked tire sites and found out the larger tires fit other levels of my van.  But I can't tell if they fit the CE.

Will the Craigslist tires fit my van?

Comparing the numbers:
215 vs. 225 = wider tread patch but due to height of tires, may be approximately the same.
65 vs. 60 = wider but shorter height tire may equal out
16 vs. 17 = taller tire.

With some dimensions like 17 inch wheels being larger and 60 series tires being shorter, they may equal out.  Did they change lug patterns between the two trim levels?  Probably not.  Most likely, the difference in the two trim levels is in the powerline and the cosmetic trim.

Both the '06 and '08 16 and 17 inch wheels are 6.5 wide with a 4.5 inch 5 lug bolt pattern

For example, everything that fits my Explorer Sport Trac XLT will fit the lower trim level Sport Tracs and most parts will fit the Explorer SUV.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

According to this tire size calculator, the 2nd tire outside diameter is only 0.6" larger. They should be OK.
