Regarding "Radio Upgrades".  Replacing your stock-ish, pre-2000 radio with a modern one will improve your gas mileage and weight distribution.  Those things weigh a ton!

I thought that was to hold the front end down.

Nah, that's what the spare tire is for.

Might ditch my 30 year old spare when I get new tires.  Then the front end will really be pointing up.

Since I don't use either the spare tire or the radio, maybe I should remove both.  Yhen I'd get what, 5 MPG better?

At least two MPG for the radio.

Fiero Tom's radios are '98-'01 models.

Just flipped through NIFE's newsletters from September through December.  Apparently, they did a headliner recovery article in their September/October newsletter, beating ours by a few months.  I hadn't seen their newsletter, until now, because it was placed aside with some other magazines.

Oddly, their article says it was sourced from the internet, with no person credited.

I did notice that they seem to be struggling for articles.  3 pages from the president, and lots of filler articles.

NIFE also managed a short mention for TFS' decklid vent screws.  Actually, several newsletters in a row reviewed these screws, but we were first.

From the Newsletter: " First
of all, we had a lot of issues with the passenger
door not wanting to open. Sometimes it would,
    and sometimes it wouldn’t."

One of the weird MINI quirks is you have to open the passenger door twice from the inside.  First time unlocks it.  Second time opens the door.

That "quirk" was an impediment.  We kept having to get in from the driver's side.  If I have to go inside through the driver's door to open the passenger door, why would I need to open the door?

That reminds me.  The MINI has another quirk.  It looked big enough, so we tried.  Sure enough.  Pg, check your email.

Addendum to Fiero Appreciation:

OK, I couldn’t resist the financial comparison.

According to NADA, a 2000 Insight goes for Low, Average, and High Retail values of $1650, $2600, and $3700 with an original MSRP of $18,800.  In 2021 dollars that’s $28,558.  Also, according to NADA, a 1984 Pontiac Fiero goes for Low, Average, and High Retail values of $1300, $3325, and $5775 with an original MSRP of $7679, or $19,333 in 2021 dollars.

Granted, the debut Insight has better performance -- close to a full second to 60 mph -- and far better mpg than the first Fiero, but the Honda also cost an extra $9225.  At $2/gallon that’s 4,612.5 gallons of gas or 138,375 miles on the Fiero’s  odometer before the Insight even pulls out of the driveway.  At $3/gallon the numbers come to 3,075 gallons or 92,250 miles (Went with 30 mpg average). Feel free to pick a number somewhere between 92,250 and 138,375 miles to reflect your driving habits and the fluctuating price of petro.

This comparison just goes to show there is not a financial reason to purchase an Insight.  Fieros had lower MSRPs and better examples are worth $2000 more than a comparable Insight.  This isn’t even  counting how much uncovered Insight’s reduce property values for you and your neighbors!  The only reason to drive an Insight, like a Fiero, is because you want to.

Well, I'll add this to my version of the newsletter.

I have been watching a series on YouTube, where someone powered an Insight using a $99 Predator lawnmower motor.  They make a bunch of additional claims, but it was no longer a $99 Predator lawnmower motor, IMHO.

I think the Fiero Adventure is the highlight of this month's newsletter.  The banana blessing was certainly humorous, though.
