Sharing one of the newsletter replies from the club email:

Man, I sure like getting the newsletter. Im always surprised that another month has blasted by so quickly.
I always like reading the whole letter and seeing all the great information and tips, this time I made notes.
First, the t-shirts. Just those alone are a good reason to move to Georgia and join the club! I am sending a photo of our t-shirts and you will see why I like yours so much! I am glad we had shirts but now I wish I had not seen yours.
The ashtray doors. I have tried about everything to make those things look nice including painting them and nothing makes them look good. I have never had much luck with removing the doors without breaking the tabs so ultimately I end up painting them or buying new ones and then still risk breaking the tabs. So thank you got the great tip on cleaning them!
Coolant tank restoration. I have yet to own a tank that is not all stained and ugly looking. I will try to clean all my tanks, it sure is a lot less expensive than buying all new ones. Thanks
Thanks for posting the vender's. I have bought things from well over half of them and just purchased another set of hood and rear deck lid vents from Paul last week!
The article on the ford exp has gotten me thinking it would sure be cool to have a car like that. I went and did a search and found there is a group on Facebook. I know I have seen one back in the day but had completely forgotten about those cars.
Please tell Pat I am sorry to hear about Linda. I met him and his brother at the fiero round up a few months back and I know I will see them both again at some point.
Thanks again for the news letter and all the great information. I dont think there is anything else like it out there, I sure appreciate you guys doing it.

Glad you like it.  That is a picture.  I didn't have the skill to make that digitally.  I printed out 3 of those, folded and glued them.  My kids and I each made one.  I took a picture of one.  If I did it over again, I'd change "WANTED" to "MISSING", and I'd use a different side of the container.

I know of several people who "graduated" to Fieros from "H bodies". (Monza 2+2 and clones.)

I met a number of people who mentioned that they get the GFC newsletter, either directly, or because a friend forwards it to them.  Cool.  I see that there are a number of people viewing that thread tonight.  Probably not related to the 35th.

I just got around to checking out the ash tray door write-up in the recent newsletter (been really busy lately).
If you don't want to go to so much trouble to restore your ash tray doors, here's something that works wonders.
Take a paper towel, and spray WD-40 on it. Thoroughly wipe your ash tray doors with this. Then wipe off the excess with another paper towel. You'll be amazed at how good they look.
No need to do any pre-cleaning first. The WD-40 will dissolve any dirt or other gunk.

Sounds easy.  Let's see how it plays out.

I started with an old ash tray door.

As you can see, time and UV have had their way with this door.

I used a can of this WD-40.


I masked off the left 2/3 of the door.


I treated it as you described, and the results look promising.

After peeling off a bit of masking, you can see the difference, and it is profound.


I removed the remainder of the masking, and used the toothbrush and toothpaste method as described in the newsletter on the left 2/3 of the door.


I'm not sure if it was the water or what, but the portion that had been cleaned with the WD-40 lost its lustre, and seems to have reverted to its previous state.

On the leftmost third, I then applied the Wipe New.  I think the results speak for themselves.
