Let's try a few other things.

Here is another ash tray door that has suffered from time and UV rays.

I masked off the right side, and tried each of these products on the left side.

I really couldn't tell that there was any improvement.

Finally, I tried brake fluid on the right side of the door.

Again, an improvement.

Let's compare the various results.

Actually, the brake fluid was easy, and compared well to the toothpaste method.

The starting fluids were useless; the WD-40 really wasn't as expected.  The brake fluid was a surprise.

I guess I could try kerosene or gasoline; however, the WD-40 leaves behind an unpleasant smell.

I'm not sure if it was the water or what, but the portion that had been cleaned with the WD-40 lost its lustre,
It was the water. They don't like water.

You know, I thought we had briefly discussed one, but I can't find it.  Maybe I was wrong.  Clutch replacement would be a good one.

For anyone, I need 4-cylinder articles.

I went back and ran water over both doors, just to be thorough.  No scrubbing.  The brake fluid door returned to its former condition, as well.  The toothpaste- and Wipe New-restored sections remain in their better condition.

Note that, for this experiment, I only used the toothbrush for about a minute.  Obviously the door still needs more work.

As inspiration, I'd like to see an article about the supercharged Iron Duke mentioned at the 35th.

Well, the owner of that Fiero is a member of the Heartland Fiero Club.  Anyone interested in doing an article on this car can reach the owner through Fred B., president of that club.  Such an article would be great, but for someone who knows more about 4-cylinders, SD4s and superchargers than I do.

I would think that a supercharged SD4 would give most Fieros a run for their money.  A "stock" SD4 will give a lot of V8 Fieros a run for their money.

I think fierofool covered everything for RFTH in the newsletter.

Just received my Newsletter. Quite nice!

... A "stock" SD4 will give a lot of V8 Fieros a run for their money.

My SD4, which was a very mild build for what it was (early, cast iron head, etc.) felt almost as strong as my 4.9. Definitely not a slouch. I figure somewhere between 180 and 200 HP.
It was loud. It was obnoxious. But it was quick. (Wish I would have made some videos.)
A supercharger would have been... impressive.

What a brilliant newsletter.  Have downloaded and really enjoying.  A lot of effort clearly goes into this.  Thank you.

Thanks.  That makes the effort worth it.  You must be enjoying the article by pgackerman, because the V6 orientation article reads like a dictionary.

I need help with a 4-cylinder version of the orientation article.

Today is the Autumnal Equinox, and that newsletter post was my 4,000th post.

Maybe I like reading dictionaries then  :).  This is exactly what I miss from this side of the pond.  There are no cars to compare to or owners to chat to, which is where a lot of the learning and finer points of ownership can come from.

Thanks again, really enjoyed that.

Not just your side of the pond.  Those who have other local Fiero owners nearby do not seem to realize how beneficial it is.
