Yeah.  I'm with you on the tested and true technology.  Besides, I like hearing the symphony of my engine.

I put 60,xxx miles on a 2012 Volt base.  A tractor-trailer missed a turn, and no more Volt.  Insurance bought a 2014 Volt premium.  It has 50K miles on it, now.  Only issue was it had a firmware issue.  The Volts do not belong to me, but have a 0-60 of 7.8 seconds, just like the Fiero.  In performance mode, the Volt still couldn't hang with the Fiero, on the road.

As for the battery packs, it didn't seem that there was any change.  I've heard numbers, like 2%, but yes, I expect the batteries will fall off significantly, after a while.

Peter Hoover has an old Honda Civic Hybrid.  It's probably around a 2005 or so.  He's had the batteries replaced a number of times since he bought it when new.  There was some kind of subsidy by the government, I believe, that paid or helped pay for the replacement batteries.  Because of the cost of the batteries, it was done to help encourage the purchase of hybrids.

As in the newsletter, this irks me, that my money is being used to help pay for someone else's lifestyle choices.

The honda insight was...a piece of junk.  Aside from being ugly, the car never got its claimed MPG.  I dunno about the civic hybrid, but honda never seemed to have thought things through.  It was a poorly-implemented design.  Even toyota wasn't that bad.

Most of the newsletter articles are written as prose, although several have been checklists.  The intent is always to deliver helpful articles.  I recently went to use an article I had written, and found that it wasn't as helpful as it might have been, due to the format.  After a recent post, maybe this is a concern.  Are checklists better?

I prefer checklists.  In general, a combination of prose, with a checklist is probably best.

Well, you're in luck.  February's newsletter has something of everything.

Checklists use more space.

Pgackerman, when I first read that article about the Sunfire and the swing set, I burst out laughing.  I wish I'd seen that!

Nice long box.  Luckily not wider than the passenger seat or deeper than the leg room.  Convertibles are far more useful than most folks think.

BTW, where was the 3800 SC in your article?

It should have been in the May newsletter.

I accidentally omitted a crucial piece of the June Fiero Appreciation article.  Once this was brought to my attention, I corrected it.  The corrected newsletter has been uploaded to the site.  I will post a notice in the July newsletter, for those readers who don't follow this message board.

My apologies to pgackerman.

Thanks to Zack for the top, front and bottom engine article.  I appreciate that he shared his expertise, so that those of us who didn't know can have something concrete to which to refer.
