Aerodonamic Work Session
« on: July 20, 2018, 07:36:41 pm »
I know it's late notice, but Michael and I are going to try to get the Aerodonamic exhaust and transmission attached tomorrow, Saturday July 21.  Raydar will be there if his schedule permits.

Michael and I plan to be there about 10AM.  Would any of you like to join us to try to get Aerodonamic ready so Michael can do some test flights before Run For The Hills?

Headed out to Northlake Automotive in a few minutes.  Hope to see some of you there.

I went to this session for a bit. Helped with the exhaust manifolds on the Aerodonamic car, and figured out what was wrong with the AC on another car. Sometimes it takes a geek to figure this stuff out.

The car is a burgundy GD. The problem was that the negative side of the compressor power wasn't being grounded through the high pressure switch. And that's because a pin was bent on the switch. The pin broke when we tried to straiten it out. So it will have to be replaced. I left to work on my own car at that point, so I don't know if the switch was replaced today or not.

It's Fun to watch him cuss old cars.

Very sorry I missed this.
Please let me know, as soon as it's decided, when the next work session will be. I will do my best to be there.

We were missing one bolt in the AC mounting bracket.  Michael is going to try to get one at the hardware store.  Probably the next step will be to get the transmission and mounts installed, then the front motor mount.  Then we can align the Y pipe with the exhaust and get those bolted together.

With that, we can attach the transmission and get ready to lift it into the car.  If the weather will let me get my yard work done, I might be able to do another session next Saturday.

When you find the correct bolt, please post the specs here for posterity.

The bolt needed is one of those that bolts the V6 compressor bracket to the engine.  Two are hex bolts, the other is a stud.  Oddly, the P22 only shows one bolt and one stud, but the two hex bolts are the same size.

They are M10 x 1.5 x 60 hex bolts.  Grade 9.8 and torque to 37 ft-lb.  The diagram can be found on page 268 of the P22 parts manual.  I give this information to save search time because it took me more than a half hour yesterday to find the diagram.  It's in Chassis Group 9.0.

Pat, maybe I need to get you to take a look at the 85SE headlight problem.  Right headlight goes up but not down.  Everything has been replaced in the system.  12 V going to the motor on the DOWN circuit.

Old type or newer type?
