Better hope the shark isn't hungry, and that you don't leave a blood scent. Paddling faster will only delay the inevitable. Better not to smell of fear and not thrash the water. I'd stop paddling.

A better solution is to have a two man kayak. Push the second man overboard. Like the saying "I don't have to outrun the bear. I just have to outrun you."

I grew up on the Ocean, I DO NOT SWIM in the OCEAN. that shark can swim in 3 ft. of water.
