Opinions on this?  I've seen some that look nice, but never owned one.

If one has an engine worthy of showing off, I suppose it could be cool. (I'm certainly not in that category.)
Personally, it probably wouldn't be worth my trouble. But then, I kind of go for "understated" anyway. (Gray instead of bright red, etc...)

I thought I had a picture of you showing off your engine.

I couldn't find it now, but I think you were coming around a turn with a camera on the side of your Fiero.  I could have been mistaken.

Anyway, I know what you mean, about not having a show-worthy engine.

I was wodnering if the glass was a benefit for anything, or perhaps compromised the deck lid.

Long time ago member and friend of Spirit, Dan Bunker had a beautiful red 88GT with a crate 4.9 installed.  He did a glass insert in the decklid and had an image etched into it.  I don't remember if it said Fiero or was the Pegasus logo.  It did look really nice.

I recently read some discussion about doing the clear panel.  There was discussion about material, whether a petrochemical product or glass was better.  Seems that most thought the glass was the better for durability, but some voiced concerns with the ability to seal the panel to the deck lid due to vibration and different expansion rates of the decklid and material used for the panel.

I don't remember who, but I believe one person used a rubber gasket instead of bonding the panel to the deck lid.  A see-through panel probably wouldn't weaken the lid any more than installing a scoop, though the scoop is usually bonded.

2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

...

That was one of the RFTH /  Tail Of The Dragon excursions. The camera was mounted to the top of my windshield.
What has that got to do with showing off the engine?
(In the recorded video, all you could hear was wind and tire noise. You could hear MIKE'S 4.9, in front of me, quite nicely, however.)

I'm old school.  My car always showed on race day.  Well, except for the last time.

I only saw the pic, no video.  It looked nice.  There is more that one way to show off an engine.

I guess it isn't possible to have both a glass window and a decklid scoop.  I certainly wouldn't want to have a glass scoop.

I think that they look great on some cars and when the engine and engine bay are worth showing off.

Do a search on Pennock for Skitime. He did a deck lid window years ago. I always liked the look.”

Skitime's car(s) always stood out to me as amazing and well built.
