RIP Mrs. McKibben
« on: November 27, 2018, 04:56:33 pm »
I just read an email in the club email that Paul McKibben's wife passed away yesterday after fighting a valiant battle with cancer.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Very sad, although I never got to meet her.

I'm not sure that I ever met her either, although I did meet Paul's son.
(Thanks for the message Charlie.)

My condolences to all who know and love her.

She frequently helped him with his booth at The Fiero Factory Swap Meet.

That being the case, I'm sure I met her.

I have been unable to find an obituary for her.

Oddly, I had also been looking, this morning, with the same result.

Sad news. Praying for Paul and family.

Paul has told me that there were no obituary notices.  It was his wife's wish.  Per her request, no services were to be held.

She requested to be cremated and her ashes sprinkled in the ocean off Hunting Beach, SC.  This is where she and Paul and the family spent many days at a small cottage they have at the beach.  It was an area she really loved and had wanted to move there.

Paul said that sometime this summer when the weather is better, the family will gather at Hunting Beach, hold a private family wake and will go out to the end of the pier to sprinkle half her ashes into the ocean.  He will bring the remaining ashes back home and keep them on his mantle.

Despite how the last few months played out, it seems she had a full life, and was able to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner.  She died knowing she was loved.  Her family was there for her.

The Club has purchased a potted plant that I will be delivering to Paul on Wednesday around noon time.  Would anyone like to join me on behalf of The Club?

She is well, thank you for asking.

She's been having a really good time. We took her to the Fox Theatre to see the Nutcracker on the 21st. She's never been to a place like that or seen anything like that. She had a ball! We've had a lot of fun taking her shopping and telling stories and catching up.

It's going to be a drag to take her back to the coast of NC next week.
