Ash tray light repair
« on: November 30, 2018, 06:17:03 pm »
Where the ash tray light socket attaches, the bulb had melted the plastic, so the socket doesn't sit right.  Is there a way to fix this without replacing the entire center console skeleton?

You would probably be better off to not fix it.  Those little bulbs put out a lot of heat and are part of the reason that the shift surround buckles in that area.  They are really ineffective in lighting the inside of the ashtray, too.   Same holds true for the cigarette lighter bulb.  It causes the soft vinyl above the lighter to buckle up.

They are LED, now.  The heat doesn't burn my fingers.

My Fiero is mostly stock.  Most non-fiero people wouldn't know it isn't stock.
