2019 Don Hulse Memorial Cruise
« on: January 06, 2019, 04:52:44 pm »
The 2019 Don Hulse Memorial Cruise is scheduled for April 13, 2019.  This is the same date as our regularly scheduled meeting, but the cruise will take it's place.  There will be no business meeting at The Galaxy Diner.

The Starting Point is The North Georgia Racing Museum and Dawsonville City Hall at approximately 9 AM.  The Atlanta Motorsports Park was considered, but special arrangements must be made to have them open the gates for us at no charge.

We will wander up and down the Hills and through the Foothills of North Georgia, drive up to Brasstown Bald if you like, or stop outside Helen and see the celebrated White Bat, and most of all, just have a good day together.  Though this is a cruise, there are ample roads for you to exercise your suspension if you desire.

This isn't a cruise intended exclusively for Fieros.  Everyone is welcome.  Invite your friends to come along.  There are no entry fees, but Donations for our 2019 Charity, The American Cancer Society, would be greatly appreciated.

Our final destination will be The Smith House in Dahlonega.  All you can eat Country Cookin'.  When the platter is empty, they'll bring more, so there's no need to fight over that last biscuit or chicken leg.  Seating is at old style long tables, so lots of folks to jibber-jabber with, as long as you remember to not talk with your mouth full.

Now, you've all been given ample time to get this on your schedule.  No excuses.  Let's see if we can have a little more club spirit and participation than we have had in 2018.

There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Out of curiosity, why the day of the normal meeting?

We should have more success in getting people to come out for the one gathering as opposed to one for the meeting and one for the cruise.

Just hoping no one shows up at the diner, expecting a meeting, or at least some Fiero people.

Some people don't read the message board, so there might be some.  They have 4 months to at least read the board once and know about the change in activity.

Even regular readers miss topics.

I'm not trying to start anything.  I don't have a solution, and agree that this may achieve the desired result, as fas as cruise attendance.

Maybe we can have Maria put a sign on the door -- "Fiero club meeting is not here today..., etc.".

At that point, it's already too late.  They're at The Diner and we're between Dawsonville and Dahlonega.

I like TopNotch's idea.  It may be too late, but at least they aren't waiting for people not to show up.

Do you look at the Augusta school calendar and say, "AH!  Spring Break is that week.  Perfect time for a cruise."  ?????

Have fun.

I suspect that the people at the meeting did not have school-age children.

Actually, that didn't occur to me, either.

Yup, I think I'm a statistical outlier in this group.

Has school age kids.
Only owns one Fiero.
Over six feet tall.
Don't live near Atlanta.

I'm not over 6 feet tall, otherwise, I'm in your group.  Fierofool and MikeMac are over 6 feet tall.  TopNotch may be shorter, but should be close.

Yes.  Spring Break.  No soccer games, no school, the teenagers can take care of themselves.  Time to go for a 1 day cruise.  Bring a kid.  Bring the whole family.  What won't fit in a Fiero can fit in the Soccer Van, Ballet Bus, or Mustang Convertible.
