Question about 84-87 Front Brakes
« on: January 28, 2019, 05:41:52 pm »
For the life of me, I can't remember.

Are the front brake disks on the 84-87 separate from the spindles, or an integral part?  I know the rear disks are separate.
There are three kinds of men:

1.    The ones that learn by reading.
2.    The few who learn by observation.
3.    The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence and find out for themselves.    Will Rogers

Separate.  There are inner and outer tapered bearings that must be pressed in, and a nut on the end, with a cap.

I guess I should have said 'separate from the hubs'.  Removable like the rear disks?  I know where I can get a pair of zinc coated disks for a good price and I wanted to put them on the front.  Do the disks just slide off the lug studs?

Watch part 3 of the Fiero Revival thread.  About 9 minutes in, he does the front brake rotors.

Thank you.  Integral with the hub, so it looks like I'll have to pass on a good deal.

Sure.  Interesting on the timing.

The Grand Am break upgrade kit that the Fiero Store sells consists of stock front rotor-hubs that have been machined down to be just hubs, so you can put the Grand Am rotors on them. I had those on my red car, and  the the Grand Am rotor - Cadillac caliper mod on the rear.
